We had a couple of super humid days earlier in the month that forced me to put on the AC downstairs for a few hours. We removed the upstairs one for the new roof around Labor Day and never put it back in because hey, it's September. Hah!

No heat yet. It was down to 58 in the house one morning, probably the one you are talking about. But it warmed right up after.

Now, can someone find me a place to live that has this weather more often? (not todays rain and wind but the rest of the month has been heavenly!). I've spent almost every Monday and many other mornings doing client work from my outside table. I think I've gotten a better tan in October than the rest of the summer!
Just go 150 miles south.

Flash flooding all night. Yikes.

National Weather Service Taunton MA
954 PM EDT Tue Oct 24 2017

South to north training of heavy rain along a slowly eastward
moving occluded front will present a flash flood threat through
the overnight hours. Strong low-level-jet deciphered from latest
vertical wind profilers ushering sub-tropical air N, squeezed
between an occluded front to a bombing low over the Great Lakes
region and a high pressure gyre across the NW Atlantic. SPC meso-
analysis highlighting precipitable waters up to 1.7 inches that
is maintained by strong moisture transport within the low-levels
and deep moist convergence along the front. High freezing level
heights, seeing the measure of lift along the front contributing
to efficient warm-rain processes as well as cloud tops reaching
25-30 kft agl. Conditionally unstable profile as discerned from
0z soundings enabling instability of around 250 J/kg in a region
of 0-1 km shear and helicity that promotes bowing segments and
storm-cell rotation, several threats continue in the way of
strong to damaging winds and flash flooding.

Following closely to latest high-res guidance, but believe that
both the HRRR and the RAP are moving things a bit too quickly.
The frontal boundary is squeezed between airmasses that are
slowly juxtaposition per WV satellite, holding their place more
or less or getting stretched out.

Growing concern that we are in for a long night of flash flooding
that will result in dangerous conditions with homes becoming
inundated, potential for water rescues. Very anomalous situation
that warrants to expect the unexpected
.

Widespread 1-inch rainfall amounts with locally heavier outcomes
with any S to N training with anticipated rain amounts of 2 to 4
inches, some of that occurring in a short period of time far
exceeding flash flood guidance which is presently around 2 to 3
inches for the 1-hour and 3-hour timeframes.

Forecast wind gusts averaging around 25 to 35 mph, but within
the heavier rain cells anticipating gusts to exceed 40 mph
possibly up to 50 mph

We got darn close to nothing here in Danbury. I'd be calling bust in winter ...but wow that training in the central part of the state does look like it means business.

Why yes, but I'd sure like a warmer winter to go with that! (and less snow)

Could not believe the rain a little while ago! That's sure a test for my new shingles

Is this line of rain going to move? We’ve been getting dumped on in Wallingford all night. I keep checking on the basement.

Also is this the forecast for tomorrow all day to?

So tomorrow will be cloudy? The rains were unbelievably heavy and it was strangely warm at the same time. Wind blew a heavy flower pot over on my balcony. I rescued the plant but need to find a new pot because it broke.

Maybe tomorrow will be a good day to visit a garden center. Nearly time to put gardens to bed. Must be bulb planting time too.

I ended up with just over an inch. I'll take it! I feel the air mass change.
