But why did it take 5 days with previous one?? Im baffled about that. Must be because the previous snow had chance to refreeze into ice crystals which makes it harder to melt?

Anyway.... when will all this melt in Oakdale?

Incredible. Such short distances away from the coast and it's half foot difference.

Yup......

It must be March... 2-4" gone within 7 hours and only a 31° to 36° jump.

Wow that did not happen here nor did I see blue skies!

So tomorrow, 38 and rain?

Knew about Atlantic City and Philly (AC's is even more amazing since being very coastal they have an annual snowfall average similar to DC's (hmm AC/DC ) I think there was one snowfall where they got a ton more than everyone else causing their total), but figured they are still north of DC. Didn't realize the other cities, 15" for Norfolk, while nowhere near a record, is pretty impressive (they average 7" of snow a year, but their record of 40" in the winter of 1979-80 is interesting because I believe NYC (which had 9" of snow for the year) and Hartford (I believe just a little more) were the "snow holes" that year.

I was thinking "as the crow flies" and actually more so the simple distance of the difference in latitude without factoring how much west it is. Even from NYC it's about 250 miles by road and rail so from that standpoint (Hartford is about 100 miles from NYC) what you are saying is correct. It's like saying that Pittsburgh is almost 400 miles from NYC but they are about at the same latitude (though being on the coast does make NYC a little warmer and less snowy). Or (to use a few other cities at the same latitude to each other) Boston vs. Buffalo vs. Chicago.

Anyth No we got today pretty much melted. Streets are wet driveway is clear and whatever stuck made almost no difference. Amazing that so close by they got a dumping. Did this storm move East really got before it hit shore? It almost looks like it took a hard right or didn’t swing back around.

Probably drizzle or snow showers around tomorrow. Nothing big. Normal High is 46° at Bridgeport btw.. I'd like a near 50° day again. lol

Here's a cool link I came across. Keeps track of storms. Don't know of anywhere else that does this. Pretty neat! Sub 970mb now.

The 40/70 is "benchmark" the classic spot when the entire corridor gets a snowstorm

I went out at 6pm and my driveway was all black with no snowcover except a bit around the edges. My sidewalk had less than 2 inches, probably closer to 1 inch. This was in the Farmington Valley.

With the 5.5" of snow Bridgeport got today that means they have 11.5" of snow this month. That means March is now snowier than all other winter months this yr. Unreal!

9th Snowiest March

Another 3 foot+ season.
