Need advice on some good movers in state only. Been burnt before when my estimate double when they had my stuff already. Word of mouth is best.
Thank friends

I used to work for a company that owned BeavEx moving and storage. They moved me long distant, no problem. When you look for a moving company, please make sure some one comes out and gives you a written estimate and that you have a binding contract. Sometimes the cost is a little more but your stuff won't be hijacked. Good luck!

Default GREAT moving company

Hmmm, I thought I responded to the same post a couple of weeks ago, but now I can't find it.

Anyway.

We used a company called R&R Relocation. They're based in Newington. Here's their website: Home

They're not the cheapest in town -- I did my homework when looking for a moving company when we moved from Plainville to West Hartford -- but they are terrific! They're quick, they're careful, they price fairly, and they're a great group of guys. I can't say enough good things about them -- they're TERRIFIC!

I know moving sucks, but these guys make it easier. Good luck!

_______
I used Astro Moving based in Bridgeport and they were great. They charged 107/hour. I cancelled the move 2 times and they were very accomodating to re-schedule at last minute. The movers were as pleasant as they could be. It is a costume around here to tip your movers. If you offer a tip at the start they will actually work faster for you.

I had a horrible experience with another moving company that charged me by the hour ($90) a few years back. They worked 15 minutes and rested 15 minutes. Nedless to say, it was a very expensive move!

Of course, it is best to get a flat fee if you can.
