Hmmm.

Anyone else seeing squirrels running around burying nuts & acorns? They're moving around a lot and not at a slow pace either.

I read a study that Squirrels are key to Oak species because they only recover 75% of the acorns. So the other 25% would germinate into an Oak tree (if not cut or mowed over)

Just realized why I asked myself why I been seeing small oak trees popping up everywhere. I been putting them in pots and it just dawned on me why. Moreso this year than any other year. I guess they did a lot of burying last year. lol

Some more Fall Colors I just took around the Norwalk Community College today, near I-95. I forgot to resize so its a large image.

The yellow trees I am not sure what type it is. It's Hickory, Beech or Birch family. The trunk doesn't look like Beech though. They were green last month.

Last 7 days have been below normal but I say we are behind last year but ahead of usual.

I remember how fast we get to peak.

Last year we went from Semi Color to mostly bare in 4 weeks. A storm with wind will do the trick once they change colors.

Crossing Stamford along Route 1 (Boston Post Road, but known by various names in each town; in the case of Stamford, it has three names, LOL) from West Main Street to East Main Street.

The photos were taken a few weeks ago.

You guys should see this route during rush hour. LOL, but trust me when I say that its not funny!

You guys decide. More color today or exactly 1 year ago? I think it's pretty obvious. lol

However... there was much more color from the roads then from up top.
Pretty interesting the "pockets" of vivid and more spread out colors .
More color an hour north of me in CT (elevation 400-800 feet)

Everywhere you looked there was some color and bright too. Oranges and Reds.

Driving through town in New Milford.. They must have the fireplace lit maybe.

Cool. Wonder how long that tree will stay standing. lol

September 24, 2014.

I-691 West in Meriden

Commercial District on Route 5. Some cool views in the distance, not something you see in SouthWestern CT.

Another view of the backdrop. Not "mountainous" type but cool to see the terrain of CT.

Merritt Parkway South

The most vivid color tree I've seen in years unfortunately ruined by the overhead wires. Meriden, CT

Closer... This is one of those "picture doesn't do justice" things. The color was absolutely mesmerizing. I couldn't help but keep staring. It was amazing. Sugar Maples are awesome.

Some Cows in Wallingford. I forgot which road I was on. Maybe Parker Farms Road or Route 150?

Dry, Warm morning driving on Route 8 in Beacon Falls, CT near the Naugatuck River and Naugatuck State Forest.

Still mostly green but the change obviously has started.. Just one of those long lasting years since the warm pattern began. Short winter?

Great Brook Reservoir in Wolcott, Connecticut this morning. 10/2/14. 30 miles from coast

I missed a turn and the GFS diverted me, told me to make a left on "Hill Street". I knew I'd be in for a steep hill. (Don't know how they do it in the winter) Came all the way up, forgot to measure the elevation rise but took this shot from the top. Love looking at the terrain of the drops and rises in CT. You can't even see the street which was way down there.

The rocks we need to bulldoze to make more room for businesses, roads and parking lots. We got lots of boulders and rocks around including backyards. (You cant dig without hitting one!) This is on Route 7 in Wilton.
