There are five colleges with facilities in downtown Hartford. In addition to UConn and Trinity, St. Joseph's School of Pharmacy is also downtown at the XL Center on Trumbull Street. Capital Community College has been downtown for years now and Rensselaer At Hartford has been on the northern edge of downtown for decades. I don't think there was a specific effort to do this, just that the schools realized the importance of having campuses in urban areas in order to attract students. Jay

Seems to me that means more city properties that won't generate any tax revenue.

CVS decides Aetna HQ to remain in city. Hartford catches a break.

Time to re-adjust the state's perspective on soaking the rich and corporations.

This area is south of downtown so it will not spillover into the North End. Development in NoDo, around Dunkin Donuts Park has a better chance of doing that. Jay

It appears that the industrial and office real estate market is improving dramatically. As I posted on the Economic Climate thread, there has been a number of industrial leases in the region. The industrial vacancy rate is below 6% which kind of means it is near full occupancy. What I did not realize that the office vacancy rate in Hartford was so low (12.2%) which I believe is lower than Stamford. Jay

This is not quite the right thread for this but not sure it deserves it's own. Goodwin college in East Hartford is looking to expand along the water front as well as working lease deals to developers to build a hotel office and retail space along the CT river in East Hartford.
