I'm kind of undecided as to what is falling right now in New Fairfield -- it's either pouring snow or pouring sleet. Either way it's very wet and very loud -- you can hear it falling in the woods...

Snow is so dry and fine again. Fluff stuff! Lots of moisture on the map. Poor Pittsburgh!
Check it out.. Shame on me for not noticing earlier. Look at the 3 High Pressures! Over the northern Plains, Over the Atlantic AND.... over Quebec! That's the one I didn't see which is keeping the air cold enough East of Pittsburgh!

Snowing HARD and with the wind its awesome. 4" of fresh powdery snow. Not used to this powdery stuff near the coast. Temp 25°F. Dewpoint 23°F
Current radar and metars. Always amazing to see it snowing hard here and raining across the way on Long Island.

There it is.. There's that crucial 850mb freezing line. Remember where it was yesterday down near DC?
Notice the metars. Raining south of that line, snowing north. Use that link from earlier to see this yourself.
If its above freezing at 4500' forget snow, think rain, ice, sleet or mix.
