I'm in my early 30's and want to start playing volleyball, basketball or soccer. Never really played team sports, except some beach volley and phys-ed stuff back in high school.

Currently doing boxing and CrossFit and think I'm in a pretty good shape physically, but not really up on my ball game. Checking local sports and recs-departments - most of their beginner programs are in tennis/sailing/yoga ets. Not really team sports. And for adults sports it's mostly leagues. Right now I know I'm not going to qualify. So what's the best way to get in to this? and what are good places to check for a beginner in Westerly/New London area (I work in New London and live in Westerly so checking out Westerly, Mystic/Stonington, Groton, Waterford).

Try the YMCA in Westerly? You can probably get in pick up basketball games at a minimum. I'm pretty sure they will have co-ed volleyball as well.

Check websites like Meetup.com I know there is an adult/coed pick-up soccer group, though they mainly play between Hartford and New Haven (I think they are called Connecticut Pickup Soccer or something like that). There may be more groups like that closer to you.
