Got some source for this fact?

If it's true, what % of wealth in the state do these people own? What about the ultra-wealthy whose income is mostly unearned?

Yeah, it's also on the lower end for home ownership and business/job opportunity. While it's up there on healthcare for whatever year data obtained for this rank, I think we are going to start seeing a huge shift there in the next few years.

Connecticut Income Tax: Who Pays The Most, Who Pays The Least? - Hartford Courant

Not sure if this answers the question but the top 10 income paying towns paid more than 133 towns combined. Greenwich alone paid $679m in personal income tax.

I would venture to say these 10 towns hold 70% of connecticuts wealth. Take away some rich guys from FFC and we'll see some losses.

State Budget Gap Increases to $72 Million - Hartford Courant

72m dollar deficit isn't statistically significant for a budget of 20billion dollars. The variance only works out to .0036 or 3.6%. It's actually amazing they can come that close. I would be more concerned with a variance of 10%.

Don't worry though as the state will shift payments and transfers just before the fiscal year end of 6/30/2016 to close that budget gap. One favorite trick of theirs is to delay medicaid payments until AFTER 6/30/2016. The same type of balance sheet shenanigans happen in private industry too.

Not a health nut so I never heard of this brand but they will be leaving Connecticut.
Connecticut healthy food firm eyes move to Castleton - The Buzz: Business news

That sucks. Granted not a huge company but they seem to be growing enough and able to expand and unfortunately not here.

I'd love to see what type of a deal a company with 13million in revenue (as of 2013) can scare up from Govt's. Unless their revenue has increased greatly within the last 2 years, CT probably dodged a bullet with this company leaving.

I wouldn't want CT to give them money but it's just interesting they are buying a 100,000 sf and renovate it. Wish they would expand here.

It sounds like the owners have ties to the Albany area. Not sure Connecticut could have done much to keep them if they wanted to. That area is very inexpensive. Hard to compete even in less expensive portions of our state. Jay

What caught my eye is the photo in this article of Aetna's Hartford headquarters and the statement that 47% of their workers work from home. I had heard this statistic a number of years ago. In fact most Hartford area insurers have similar numbers. No wonder there is no need for new office space in the Hartford region. Most people work from home. Hartford has been on the leading edge of this movement for more than a decade now. I know someone who went to work for a major Boston insurer and was appalled at how archaic and far behind the major Hartford insurers they were. From all the headlines recently, would have thought it was the other way around. Jay
