He also should check into if that cheaper heath insurance is comparable. What is covered? What are the deductibles. Also before making claims that he is going to save so much money, he should Che k his math very carefully. It’s not nearly as much as he claims in his posts. Jay

Can you post the info on how you know the taxes are $2000 to $3000 and what are they for.

Thanks
They have income tax and property tax. The information I gathered was from looking at the annual tax bill on homes that recently sold in Alpharetta for ~300k. All had tax bills between $2k and $3k per year. Dirt cheap to live in such a nice suburb.

This is true and was definitely overlooked. My basement in Branford was unusable because of how humid it was even with a dehumidifier. Then we had the joy of having to call Basement Systems for a $6k project. That said, my next home had a nice walk-out basement that was not as damp, but it flooded and again, another bill from Basement Systems. I have an unfinished basement now and don’t put much down there. Needless to say, I’m not a basement fan.

And those bonus rooms are hot. Not sure what your basement is like but mine is pretty dry and just as easy to use as one over the garage.

I also ask that question but people come here for information on Connecticut. Too many naysayers here spout off misinformation or make unsubstantiated claims that need to be corrected or clarified. Jay

Trumbull is always in the top 20-25 for school systems in CT.

Here is a website that adjusts the SAT scores for participation rate.
https://blog.prepscholar.com/average...icipation-rate

SAT Scores
CT is #2
GA is #17 (good but no where near CT)

ACT Scores
CT is #2
Georgia #28

States with the best and worst schools. (Feb. 2018)

CT #5
GA #32

I bet the middle rated schools in CT are as good as the best rated schools in GA.
You can't compare state to state with schools. G.a has alot of backwoods but schools in the Atlanta area are good. Same as for sc. Sc ranks low in schools but when you rank schools in the charleston/Greenville area they rank high

Wrong again. Almost all homes, middle class neighborhoods up, in my region had central air, bonus room included. It's part of the living space, not basement, nor garage. Just another room on the main floor usually

Now different people set a/c at different levels. My BIL & sister kept theirs crisp.

Family of mine just added a bonus room onto their house in FL (called “club room”). It has AC and a separate bathroom.

Keep on believing that if it makes you feel better about your town and state. The best schools in Georgia are on par with the best here in CT. On the whole, CT schools are stronger state wide though without a doubt.

You’re right - CT schools overall perform far better. But en looking at the list of top public high schools, many are in southern states. People who don’t have firsthand experience with those highly ranked southern districts should not be discounting the quality of the education there.
