I commute from just below the Valero on RT7 to High Ridge Rd in Stamford. If I leave before or just after 7am, RT7 to 95 (or Merritt) is actually not too bad. It takes me approximately 35-40 minutes in the morning. Alternatively, I go the 35, 124, 137 route and it takes me the same amount of time. The only issue is if I get stuck behind a school bus. I recommend the latter route if you leave after 7:30.

Thanks. How is it coming home?

Another question about 7. Does it still back up like crazy on Main Ave turning onto Grist Mill to get onto super 7? I remember the right lane backing up as far as 1/4 mile sometimes. Just wondering if it would make more sense to take Mike's route of 35 to 123 to 106.
Going south? It's not that bad. But there is no reason to take 7 to Grist Mill, especially coming from Ridgefield. Take 33 to Drum Hill to Belden Hill to Grist Mill. Much better than 7. But why not 33 straight into Westport? You miss all the 7 traffic. And once you're talking Stamford (Bridgewater I presume?) back roads through New Canaan and Darien are the better bet day in and day out.

Sure. It's great as long as I go the reverse route through Westchester (137 -> 124 -> 35). That's one of the reasons we moved to Ridgefield as there's no dependency on the Merritt or I95 to Stamford. It's all back roads and consistently 35-40 minutes every day. I have colleagues who live in Wilton and some days it takes them 25 minutes, others over an hour. I still can't figure out any traffic logic with the Merritt.

Why would your colleagues from Wilton bother with 95/Merritt. It should be consistently 30 minutes every day- we have the same back roads and are a bit closer.
