Usually I dont look at models this short range, I just see whats happening in reality and go from there. But a peak at the latest NAM is pretty intense. Forms a Norlun trough. Basically inverted trough which continues to feed Atlantic Moisture into cold air. Hilly terrain enhanced rates big time with a Norlun trough.

Here's the snow totals from the lastest NAM. For some reason I like this idea of the Norlun because the storm in the Atlantic is being blocked so it inverts the trough.

Can someone explain to me why these maps have that swath in the middle of CT getting less snow than the east and west? The area (looking at Cam's map above) is roughly east of the CT River Valley and looks like it would almost follow (starting at the Sound) Route 11 and Route 2, heading north/west towards Hartford and Springfield. I can't figure out what would cause this.

I was reading that this is mostly an "elevation" storm, and it appears that the large swath of lesser amounts [forecasted] is where the lowlying CT river is.

It's picking up the Valley's where warm air might be an issue OR snowrates wouldnt be as intense. BTW.. Upton and Mt Holly said throw the NAM out. LOL! I thought it was a bit too much myself.

Yup... I dont know for this one either. It's just a look out the window type storm. Amazing nobody knows. NWS, Weather outlets, media, or even the models. Absolute mayhem. Maybe it will be sunny and 70 tomorrow. lol

Something tells me Thursday night might se some heavy snow too. I truely have no idea.

Hoping to see some OBS posts so we all know whats happening around the area.

NWS seems to be thinking tonight into Thursday not as big a deal anymore but that Thursday night into Friday is where the "real stuff" might go on.

It's all up to the temperatures. It looks like above freezing for the most part on the coast, so shouldn't be much accumulation.

That's what I'm thinking. TWC saying 36 tomorrow in Hartford with snow and wind - I can't imagine that even up in Hartford, much would accumulate at 36 degrees.
