Hi everyone- I am hoping you can help. I am being relocated to Wallingford, CT and am marrying a guy that is originally from Southington. We can't decide whether to move to Southington or Cheshire (we want to stay close to the grandparents and keep my commuting time down). Both seem to have good schools and both seem like pretty towns. I grew up in Central NJ and currently live in Manhattan. What are you thought of one over the other and why?
I personally like Cheshire because it has more character. Either way, both are relaively affordable, middle class, safe suburbs with good schools. Cheshire is a tad more affluent and a bit more manicured.
I like both. I might lean towards Cheshire, mostly because it is probably a shorter commute to Wallingford. Cheshire also has a significantly more highly-educated population and higher median income level, if that's important to you. Southington has a pretty urban center that's probably better for walking and biking around than Cheshire, though. Both towns have the New Haven-Northampton Canal Trail and several parks that are great for recreation too.

Totally agree. Cheshire is also near more "stuff".
Cheshire is a more upscale town while Southington is more diverse and middle class. For good or bad, Cheshire has more wealth than Southington and a more New England small town feel while Southington has less character. Only you can decide which fits you best. Jay
Southington may cost less and it's only a 10 minute drive to either.
