I've lived in Fairfield County all of my life and have decided it is time for a change. I currently live in Norwalk and I am tired of the congestion and the hustle and bustle in the area. I like being in an area where hiking, biking and outdoor activities are conveniently located. My friends have suggested that I move to West Hartford. I've heard some good things about WH, but I don't know what the people are like. Any help? I'd like to be in an area where the people are friendly and down to earth. Any other help would be welcome.
ctmove2008 - West Hartford is agreat town. It has a nice downtown area with great shops and restaurants and a lot of good entertainment options. It is near Hartford so there are a lot of jobs and it has excellent schools. there is a wide range of housing options from apartments to mansions. It reminds me a lot of Fairfield or Westport, only the housing prices are more reasonable. People in the area are friendly enough, but keep in mind that this is Connecticut and people are a bit more reserved. Being from Norwalk you shouldn't have a problem understanding this. Anyway, good luck on your move and let us know if you have any questions. Jay
Think about Vernon. It's 20 mins or so from Hartford, 10 mins from the mall, Wal-Mart and Home Depot, etc. It's quiet here, there people are friendly, very low crime and a lot of trees and nature.
Henry Park is great to relax, hike and bike and there are other places nearby as well.
I used to live in Fairfield County. I came up this way in '87 and other than missing being close to my family--I wouldnt change a thing!
Yes Vernon is a great town -I live here and what Maurie12 said is right-
also consider Bolton, Willington, Coventry, Stafford Springs and Somers.
Prices for homes here are about 60% less of what they are in most of Fairfield County.
