Timely and thanks.
I have W7 RC on three machines, and it will start shutting down next month, IIRC.
I need to get hopping on installing the W7 Pro upgrades I bought on discount.

I carry a copy of Paul's hack with me but haven't had to use it. What I've done is boot from the DVD, do a custom install, delete all existing partitions, create a new one, and install from there. Activation has gone without a hitch. I think the key is that the upgrade check happens before I delete the existing partitions. These instructions will come in handy when I need to install it on a brand new drive.

I'm in the same boat - have my retail copy of Windows7 ready to go, and thought I'd do it over the holidays, but never quite got around to it. Honestly, it shouldn't be that bad - I was able to load and re-setup my system with the Release Candidate in just a couple of hours. But everything's working find and I just don't feel motivated to go through it right now. It may take the nag screens/shutdowns before I get around to it.

Thanks for the post. I'm going to be building a replacement for our current Vista HTPC soon, and was going to buy the full version of W7. You just saved me a few bucks!
