Laptop is about a month old. Suddenly its diagnostics say there is a problem with the cable modem and/or the router. There isn't, as the other wirelessly connected computers are fine. Advice?

So this computer normally connects wirelessly? Does it detect any wireless access points at all? Could you have turned off the wifi radio, either by pressing a key combination or a physical switch or button?

Assuming it's Windows <something> look at the system devices, there should be a network adapter listed, does it have a yellow or red icon on it?

Stupid but have you tried cold booting the system?

Can you ping 192.168.1.1?

The number of times I've seen this as the cause is astounding. People used to pay me to come to their house and push that button.

Yes, this laptop connects wirelessly. It says its picking up the signal from the router but says there is a problem between the modem and the router (there isn't, the other laptops are picking up the router/modem/internet just fine) or that the internet connection is down (nope).

Yes, I have rebooted a couple of times. Network adapter with red or yellow icon? Where would I find that? Thanks again.

Disconnect wirelessly and then re-connect (verify password). Or press the WIFI button on the laptop. Also check your Internet Security program and see if its blocking the computer.

I disconnected wirelessly and then re-connected. Still thinks the modem has no internet. Where is the WIFI button?

Who makes it and what is the model number? Also have tried wiring it directly into the router to see if it surfs?

Dell XPS 15z. Good idea, I will try directly plugging it in and see if I get a different result. Edit: Still thinks there is no internet even when directly plugged into router.

What IP address are you getting? Can you ping the router?

Have you rebooted the router? I know other computers are getting online but the router could still be the culprit despite that.
