We've never had this problem before....since yesterday I'm having internet connection problems. Sites are taking forever to load, or they don't load all the way. My email program is working fine. My husband is not experiencing any internet problems at all. Why would I be having trouble all of a sudden? Would unplugging the router help? I only unplug it when we can't connect at all. I have a Mac and he's on a PC. Thanks.

Just a guess: DNS Server.
See Changing DNS Settings in Mac OS X for an example.
and then Public DNS Server List (Updated August 2012)

I shut down my Mac all the time, that didn't help, but rebooting the modem and router did. Just never had this problem before. Guess I should have tried that before posting, sorry.

If anyone with a Mac and a router checks this thread in the future, I wanted to mention that I had a lot of problems when I first got this laptop getting the internet to work right. My friend finally suggested messing with the DNS (see links above) and I guess that's what fixed it. The PC laptops we've bought since then didn't have any problems though, and when people visit and connect to our router (Mac or PC) they don't have any problems. So, I still don't get what was wrong.

I can always tell when my internet provider has been "working" on their system I always have to reset the router and it takes care of all involved desktops, laptops, iPads and iPhones. I'm not sure why it changes things so much but I guess it is a technological thing with the internet provider.

I use DHCP on my iMac. AND, I have my DNS manually configured.
In fact, the DNS settings on all 6 computers in the house are different.
