I have an old eMAC (that I will soon donate or sell) connected to a HP Deskjet 5550 printer.
Last year I bought a netbook (Windows XP) and bought a wireless gizmo and had Blockbuster configure things, came home, managed to plug things in the right way and now do most of my surfing and email from the couch

But...I would like to be able to print from the Netbook, especially if the eMAC is going away.

I downloaded the driver but when I tried to install got stumped when it asked me to browse to the network. I couldn't find.....? network? The My Network which led to MSN network or something? didn't work.

Any help greatly appreciated.

You need a print server. If your router doesn't have a USB port for hosting a network printer, you'll need to buy a print server to connect that printer to your network. If the printer is next to the router, you can use a wired print server since they're a lot easier to configure. But for the time and money you'd put into getting it going, you could easily buy a new printer that has network capability (wired and/or wired) built in and it'll probably be a lot easier to configure.

I bought this one. Works great!

Newegg.com - D-Link DP-301U Ethernet Print Server RJ45 USB 2.0

Click Start, click My Network Places, click Entire Network, and then double-click Microsoft Windows Network. To see the local network.
