You really want to disable Windows Update? You'll be back here complaining about malware when you get infected with something Microsoft patched months ago but you never installed.

Annoying crap? It's not like it does it constantly. I bet you get all pissy when the stupid car runs out of gas.

Some other ways:

Disconnect from the internet.
Turn off your computer.
Use Windows 3.1

Also be sure to turn off any firewall, anti-virus, malware detector, delete any passwords (which I really doubt you use ) and be sure to always logon as an administrator so that any virus or malware you encounter will have full access to your system.

Oh yea, be sure you know how to restore the system to factory fresh status either from the hidden partition on the drive, or from a CD that came with it. Don't worry about any data for files you want to keep, as they will be gone.

The man asks a simple question and gets sarcastic answers... good going, elitism at it's best.

Just what do answers such as the following show a new reader of this forum other than some wise-as* populate it?

Someone could have showed the OP how to pose this question on one of the search engines to better his understanding of the process.

We talk about uneducated users, clueless users... and what do we do to help them be better educated?

I thought this forum was to have lively discussions about technical things, help people out with problems they have..

Not to demonstrate how superior the poster is to everyone else.

There is enough information and publicity about the importance of updates, and the dangers of not updating OS's and applications that users that pay any attention should have a basic understanding.

Nor did the OP ask their purpose, do I need these, etc., but just that they annoy him, and he wants it to stop.

It's like driving a car and ignoring all the maintenance tasks, change the oil, replace tires, etc. as prudent.
