Wouldn't it be great if they consolidated into a new office tower downtown?

I'm still betting on Aflac and South State Bank being the primary tenants in a new highrise downtown. Even better if that's a new tallest, which Columbia/SC is overdue for.

Are they currently in one building or scattered into multiple downtown buildings? Cola is due for a new highrise, they could consolidate into one new building.

They might have already consolidated into one. I can't remember. For some reason I don't get the feeling from today's blurb that it's going to be that big of an announcement. It might just be a story about how they are filling jobs they announced a couple of years ago or so. I don't see how a big announcement could be contained until it ends up in a Sunday news article.

I am in Charleston this weekend and they had a Food Truck Round up on the northern part of King St in one of the parking lots. I hope Columbia does the same thing one day...I'll be there with a baby bib...some Beano and Pepto...lol

There are food truck round ups regularly in Boyd Plaza on Main Street. There was one at lunch time yesterday. There are also multiple food trucks/cards at the Soda City Market every Saturday.

It's just an article that basically confirms the company's foothold in Columbia and touts the market's expanding role in insurance because of its expertise in insurance technology. By the end of the year Aflac should have over 1,000 employees in the Columbia area, possibly doubling or tripling that number within the next two or three years.

COLUMBIA, SC: 5 years later, Aflac’s Midlands presence has ballooned | Business | The State
