I was trying to get Sterlinggirl to tell us why she started this thread, which really does seem to have no purpose.

Well, I do remember a thread a while back where someone asked about negative aspects of Denver. Various people posted things they found negative. And others replied negatively to their posts. I remember thinking, "Come on, people have a right to post their opinions about specific things they don't like--it provides perspective." And sometimes people might voice something someone doesn't want to hear.
For example, I've lived all over the country. And in my experience, people in this area aren't so friendly. I'd say they're nicer than people in San Francisco, where I spent 4 years, less forthcoming than people in Michigan, where I spent 4, a lot less friendly than people from Texas, where I spent 9, friendlier than Maryland and Delaware, where I've lived too, and--this may strike some as odd- less friendly than Boston, my hometown.
Ok, someone is probably going to write in and say I'm a jerk. And I'll say: this is my impression based on 5 years of talking with neighbors, shopkeepers, bus drivers, rec center staff, etc in the Denver area. I welcome others' impressions....

Thanks Julia, that was exactly the type of response I was hoping to provoke with this thread.
