Im in the same boat, and have been "dreaming the dream" for some time now. I also have a family Im moving and need to be able to map out there future as well. I have just a handful of years left before retiring, but wish to be hired in the same capacity to carry my benefits over with me.
Co. sure does 'appear" to be lovely. I really love the outdoors, and the weather (at least summer months) appear identical to where I currently reside.

So what is so hard about moving from one state to another? You all sound like its a big deal or something. You pack up your stuff, load up a moving van and go. I have moved state to state and back again. Then I moved to another country. Now that is a much harder one. Try having to get a visa, sell most everything, especially if its electronic and then say good bye to your friends, family and culture. Now that is much harder then moving a few hundred miles to another state.

I have moved a total of 23 times in my 41 years. Believe me, moving is no biggie.

OP, if you want to try something new then do it. Life is to short to not have adventours if you want. So much to see and do. Enjoy.

I'd say employment is the big question for most people. I've moved several places, and finally returned to Boston to get an RN so I could move places without so much difficulty (and I have no dependents, at least not two-leggeds).
Of course, if employment/money isn't an issue, it's a much simpler matter.

You can be out of work anywhere. The OP is in S.Lake Tahoe. If you dont work at the casinos then there isnt a whole heck of a lot more to do. More then likely employment opportunites are better elsewhere.

Good luck OP with your move. Enjoy your future. I moved in and out of Tahoe myself. I went to WA then back to CA. So go for it.

You're absolutely right! Moving can be a fun adventure instead of being hard. That being said, most of us have been trained from birth to look at moving as a big deal, and we do our best to make it a big deal. I've moved at least as often as you have and possibly even moreso. Some of my moves were fun indeed and others were a pain in the you-know-what. It mostly comes down to attitude for me. The moves I eagerly anticipate ( the ones I choose for myself ) are the fun ones, while the military assignments were the ones I gloated about and didn't enjoy much at all. Even with those, I managed to squeeze at least a bit of enjoyment from them. So moving it what we as individual make of it. Intrinsically it is neither easy nor hard.
