Hey all,

My husband will be starting a new job at the Sterling correctional facility in a few weeks.

My brother in law lives in Merino, CO and just moved there from Sterling a few months ago. He has lived in Colorado for over a decade. Anyway...

We are doing a quick sale on our house and are looking to find a rent to own or just a rental until we are absolutely sold on a new property in CO. My husband will be starting the job in November, and the rest of us will be coming out a month later. He will be living with his brother until we come out in December. So, we really need some housing leads...either in Sterling or Merino. Got some info? Please send it my way.

Thanks!

Yvonne

You could maybe try the newspaper classifieds:
Journal-Advocate.com Sterling, CO : Local News and Community Information

Also try calling the city clerk, many times in smaller areas they will have a list of people who rent out places.

Default Home searching in Sterling

I am in the same boat as yourself. My husband & I have been looking for a home since September (when he was promoted) with no luck. We are considering buying since houses are very affordable.

As far as renting is concerned, I have found that there really isn't that much available. I presently live 2 hours away in a 2 bedroom duplex that rents for $800. We looked at two different 3 bedroom homes that were in WAY worse condition than our present home. One was a foreclosure that the landlord had bought for 100,000 and was trying to get $950 for rent & a two year lease. It was in TERRIBLE condition and they weren't planning to do any renovations at all.

I don't know much about the outlying areas such a Merino but did find a few listings for apartment complexes in town online.

Have you tried the housing authority of Sterling? You can reach them at: 970-522-0869

We've been working with a real estate agent though. She has been calling some of the owners of homes that have been on the market for quite some time to see if they would want to rent out their homes. So far no luck though as many folks need to sell so that they can move.
