Is there a city website to look up home taxes & previous prices, etc? The muni in Anchorage had one, just wondering if CoS had something similar.

Yes, try this one.

Enter a street name, hit return.

Click on a record for a given address.

On the page for that address you'll see the record of prior sales for that address. You'll also see a hotlink that says 'estimated property tax info." Click on that link for tax info for that specific address, with all the mil levies.

Isn't it fun! See what all your neighbors paid for their house, what their taxes are, etc. Not sure about the MLS listings in this area, but back in VA, they once had the amount of "equity" an owner had in any given home in MLS.

I have seen that before also and didn't like it one bit, seems like a too much information out there for anyone to see...

Never seen an Accessor's web site that shows the interest rate of their loan!

The amount of equity one has in their home seems like something that should not be known, but I do recall that on MLS printouts our realtor showed us years ago back in VA. With that info, buyers have insider info that can be used in making an offer.

I agree, I think the interest on the loan is a little too much...

Not sure about CO, but some states have the option for a buyer to make their information private. For instance in OH and FL, there are some individuals whose information is not posted on the county auditor's website... including the sales price.

After the purchase of your home, it may be worth a call to the county to ask if your information can be private.

In Colorado Springs the tax / ownership records are public and held by the El Paso County Assessor's Office.
Property Search, Assessor Office, El Paso County, CO
Ownership, tax data and sales information is public record. Some very old sales information may not be on the site.
