While the SEC is still pretty solid as a conference, I think the top end is the weakest it's been since around 2004-05. I think the streak ends tonight and FSU becomes the national champion.
Auburn does have a good chance, of course - not writing them off. If they can take care of the ball and not turn it over, they'll make it interesting. The Auburn O line versus the FSU D line is going to be *the* match-up of the evening. If Auburn opens up holes, then FSU's going to have to make adjustments at the half. However, turnovers by Auburn would be disastrous, I think.
It'll also be interesting to see what they do on defense. I remember the last time Auburn played in the natty against the Ducks, thinking that their defense was crap and would need to score at least 30 to beat Oregon. But turned out both teams had some D that night. I expect a relatively high-scoring affair, but wouldn't surprise me to see both sides step up on D.
I am amazed there is no Auburn fan thread yet. I guess they will wait until after they win to put one up. Otherwise, no need.
Last team with the ball wins in a shootout.
I think it's a bad sign for FSU if this turns into a shoot-out. I do certainly expect Auburn to score their points, but at some point, FSU will need to take control of the game, either by just grinding it out on offense or by getting some turnovers or key stops. A shoot-out would pretty much indicate that FSU doesn't have the ability to contain Auburn, and I think they'd start having some serious doubts about their ability to keep it up for 4 qtrs.
