My friends were all talking about their college teams tonight at a party, and they know I don't have a team and don't really care to watch college football. I get sucked into talking about sports all the time at get-togethers, so my friends thought it would be funny if I adopted an unknown team and wore their sports apparel so people wouldn't talk about games with me lol. There are smaller colleges around here in TN that someone in Oregon or New Hampshire wouldn't know anything about. I'm hoping maybe you guys in other parts of the country can help me.

What are some lesser known college football teams with cool mascots that I can claim are my team? I'll probably buy a hat and wear it, and it'll be an inside joke with my friends. I'm actually going to learn stuff about this team and claim them in social situations. Post the college name, mascot, and a logo if you can.

Thanks!

Acura,
That's what I'm looking for, but they don't have a football team. That is a cool mascot, and I like what they stand for. One website said the mascot was chosen because they thought other colleges took sports programs too seriously.

Unknown is a relative term. No FBS team is that unknown to most college fans. Here's some more obscure ones that have cool mascots; Middle Tennessee Blue raiders, UTSA Roadrunners, Idaho Vandals, Central Michigan Chippewas, WKU hill toppers, and La Laf ragin Cajuns. If you really want to go obscure check some FCS or NAIA teams.

If not football it would def be the Dirtbags of Long Beach State. They are pretty well known though, solid baseball program.

UNCSA doesn't even have intermural athletics, let alone football.

Honorable Mention?

Ole Miss a few years ago bowed to the forces of political correctness and abandoned their Colonel. So in a competition, the hands-down winner was Admiral Akbar from Star Wars (Rebels, get it?). Cooler (Or, to be more precise, un-cooler) heads prevailed.

This would have been the greatest mascot of all time.
