Why does the SEC play so many FCS OOC games, and schedule one in November?
I recall Texas scheduling Sam Houston state 12 years ago, then the fans rebelled and ripped the AD for stooping that low.
That crap is embarrassing, and ESPIN doesn’t call them out on it. Same with the SEC manipulating the bowl pairings, other than the playoff games.
Not to mention the SEC playing only 8 conference games. A&M ran away to the SEC 7 or 8 years ago. Have they played Georgia yet?

The answer to that is simple really.....because they can and it is working out for them. As long as SEC teams are in the playoffs and consistently winning championships why would you change anything? It doesn't make sense to mess with a formula that is working unless you are forced to do so? The only way they will change is if the NCAA forces them to or works an angle to put more money in their pockets.
One thing Alabama does and some of the other SEC teams do as well is often opening the season against a bigger name opponent from another conference. Of course, they don't get a bit of credit for doing so even though they don't have to do it and could schedule whoever they wanted. Next year Alabama opens with Duke which is definitely not a big game but usually they open with a pretty good one. The Duke game came about through friendships because Duke's coach, David Cutcliffe, is an Alabama graduate and they wanted to work a game into the schedule.
