How can people even pretend this is still somehow a "power" football program and not an also-ran? They almost went winless in the SEC. They got beat by a sub-.500 UK team that didn't have a single quaterback left to dress out.

Seems like a major rocky-FLOP if you look at the facts.

slow down man...

we all know they are down... but every program has down years. They are still in the top 12 or 15 in wins in the history of college football. And they won a bcs title before. that's still relatively recent and more than 100+ other programs can say...

In addition, coming into this year they had gone to the second most bowls games... EVER. right behind Alabama. well not right behind. like 10 behind them. LOL.

The program is still sort of in transition from the Lane Kiffin fiasco. Anytime you have a hire go bad it usually takes a while to get things back in shape.

Personally, I thought they jumped the gun when they got rid of Fulmer, I would have given him more time.

Rocky Top Nation is run by idiots.

Firing Fulmer was a huge mistake.

The same people who got Fulmer fired, got Majors fired, and I'm certain, if they were alive in the 1950's wouldve gotten Neyland fired.

Tennessee has two fanbases

1. The loyal, good ole loyal fans.
2. D-bags, who scream FIRE for 1 or 2 bad seasons.

Totally agree. That was the start of the downfall.

It continued with Kiffin's slutting out the Vol hostesses, which the NCAA let go.

Lastly,
They might be in a down state but they are really beyond that. Florida is in a down state and they still are at least hitting subpar. Tennessee should be in the same boat but they aren't. The SEC East is a weak conference to begin with and Tennessee is struggling bad.

They are only down because they play in the mighty SEC. They would easily go undefeated if they played in any other major conference. SEC! SEC! SEC!

Just kidding, they suck, but at least Vol fans can pretend they accomplished something when LSU wins the title.

When ut chickened out and wouldn't play UNC, that made the SEC look bad. And then with 35 players missing, UNC beat them in the Music City Bowl (virtually a ut home game) anyway.

Now, ut is scheduling Akron who was 1-11 this year and Georgia State who just started having football.

Sad.

How else do you get a program back on track?

schedule ranked teams out of conference? yea , that makes sense...

You don't establish cred by playing the two weakest opponents in the NCAA.

It's a cop-out.

UK played Louisville out-of-conference - a solid bowl team.
Vandy played Wake Forest OOC - a solid bowl team.

Etc.etc.etc....

ut = little orange chickens

They win "PAPER TIGER OF THE YEAR"

They are not trying to establish cred... they are trying to build a winning program. In order to do that they have to start winning no matter who its against.

Not sure why talking crap about a team that won one game in its conference is such a thrill for you but that's pretty sad...
