Are the gold dollar coins collectible? I have three, and I won't touch them. I just finished rolling up $130.00 worth of coins to take to the bank, but I didn't want to take my dollar coins (I have three gold and 1 silver). Are they collectible items or nah?

Thanks!

Also, just a silly little vent, no need to answer: Where the heck is the Utah State Quarter!!!!!! I know it'll show up and end up in my hand as change. It's just taking a while. There, I feel better.

Well, pooh! I'll hold on to one of the gold dollar coins (I think they're pretty) and deposit the others. Thanks so much for answering!

Collectible maybe, Not valuable as in the aspect you can still request them at banks or even at the post office stamp machines. I still like to get them occasionally just so you can pay someone and observe that look of what am I suppossed to do with this thing. I guess there change drawers dont have a dollar coin slot.

Firstly, I'm not sure if you are aware that the "golden" Sacagewea and Presidential Dollar coins actually do not contain any gold whatsoever. The US mint did a very poor job misleading people about this.

Dollar coins are only collectable if there are in uncirculated (never used) condition... and even then are only worth one to three dollars depending on the year. These coins are not rare and will not be much more valueable in the future. This doesn't mean that it's not still fun to find them in your change and keep them if you want to

On the other hand, if any of the coins you have pre-date 1965, then they contain actual silver and these will be worth something. This goes for half dollars as well. Hope that helps!
