Haven't we all collected or still collect things? My brothers collected bottles, candy paper, nails, etc.
I myself used to collect strange rocks (ok, ANYTING YOU CAN NAME REALLY)
Today, I collect candles, preferably those who have a nice smell (love cherry), and of course...note books...
The note books I understand, but not the candles...
Do you collect something that you just "have to have" when you see it somewhere?
Or, do you know anybody who collects strange things?
I collect memories.
I’ve collected them for as long as ….well , I can remember.
However I do lose a memory now and then , so I’ve been thinking of having my collection insured.
That way if I lose a memory the insurance company can pay me to replace it.
I’m starting to lose the memories of my trip to Australia,
I better call my insurance agent tomorrow and get my memory collection insured so they can pay me to go back to Australia and replace my memories.
I hate collecting things I dont need.....or that are just going to sit. My dad is a pack rat and collects used appliances or furniture or almost anything from jobs...He works in million dollar homes in Bel-Air and those places.........it frustrates me...lol
BUT I recently started collecting hats, baseball caps in my size to wear.
I only collect Cubs hat. I started a year ago looking for rare ones online. I have about 8 hats now...and I'd say 3-4 of them always gets me questions of where I got them.
This is something I plan on doing for a very long time....A collection of hats in 20 years wont be so bad...I can display them if my head gets any bigger...or get them signed as I attend their games throughout the years. =D
Definitely rocks! Who can resist picking up an unusual rock? Or how about the new craze of having a gratitude rock in your pocket? Rocks can be found or purchased. Ever been to a gem and mineral show?
Good thread and it's interesting reading about all your collections.
Let's see. I collect....
Crystal pieces (especially European)
Polish stoneware (pottery)
Glass blown ornaments (Christopher Radko, other European)
Hard cover books
Cookbooks/recipes
Travel brochures
Decorative european linens, especially holiday motifs
Hand made baskets
I would love to see some of those crystal pieces! I love collecting prismatic glass that casts rainbows around my office. I love watching the dancing colors.
I collect coins sort of anyway, actually I have a good eye for high end stuff and if I spot something PCGS or NCG will grade higher I'll cherry pick that one and send it off to be slabbed.
What I collect for fun is memorabilia from restaurants of the past, glasses, cups, matchbook covers that sort of thing.
I collect casket plates. They are fascinating and full of history, sometimes beautiful. And I am sentimental and want to "save" these family (somebody's family) heirlooms from being for sale at an antique store!
