OT from this, can we please get some asphalt on these roads?

The South Tar River Greenway Phase II broke ground today. It will connect the current South Tar River Greenway to Green Mill Run Greenway.

Also, going off the greenway post, Greenville is getting closer to redoing the Town Commons. As you can see in the picture, they want to have historical things there. Including a remembrance of the Sycamore Baptist Church and the dredgeing company that was once there. They want to narrow 1st street to three lanes and spur private development there. The proposed ferry will connect TC with River Park North. That will make it able to extend the greenways.

Plus no students live at Kings Arms. It is a huge blight right on the Charles Blvd thoroughfare. I am very happy it is getting razed.
I realize no students live there now! Kings Arms did originally house mostly students. Like I said, students are leaving all the older complexes for the nicer, newer complexes. Many of the older ones are now turning into slum housing. I agree, it would be great if they could raze the whole area on the corner of 14th & Charles St.

Awesome! Glad Phase II of the greenway is underway. I've run on Phase I several times and it will be nice for the route to be longer. Now I just need to get in better shape so I can complete it when Phase II is open...

I would love to see the likes of Tar River and other apt complexes get....updated for students. Oh and not allow section 8 housing from Pitt St east. But that's just me and I don't want to go off topic

Anyone know what's going in the old Bear Rock location near Michael's? Saw people working on the building yesterday.

I wonder how safe the extended Greenway trail will be. I don't run in those neighborhoods now...

has anyone seen that piece of crap the city has put right in front of chicos on the corner of reade and cotanche? That thing is the ugliest piece of **** ive ever seen. Why put something like that in the middle of ECU and downtown? After all of the great strides they have made this is just a huge missed opportunity IMO. This is PIRATE COUNTRY, not Raleigh, Wilmington, or Greensboro. Would we see this kind of crap in the heart of other college towns like Clemson, Auburn, Athens, or Oxford? I highly doubt that. Someone try and get a picture of this complete waste of money flaming head looking thing.
