NCDOT is holding a public meeting on January 15 at the Maxwell Center to discuss widening Wayne Memorial Drive between New Hope Road and US-70 Bypass.

It’s confirmed. Hobby Lobby is moving into the remaining empty space in the former Kmart building between Harbor Freight Tools and Planet Fitness. Construction has already begun and is expected to open sometime in March.

According to this morning’s e-Edition of the News-Argus, the new Bojangles at the corner of Tommy’s Road and Wayne Memorial Drive is currently scheduled to open in April.

The Town of Mount Olive has sold the former National Guard armory property to Mount Olive Pickle Co.

The widening of Wayne Memorial Drive between US-70 Bypass and Saulston Road, as well as projects to upgrade US-117 to interstate standards as part of I-795’s extension to I-40 were included in NCDOT’s draft 2020-2029 STIP.

State sen. Louis Pate just retired after taking office a week ago. He should’ve stepped down months ago, IMO.
