Looking for a nifty place to stay for a mid-week winter getaway for a couple of days...in Southport. A place that's fun but won't strain our frugal budget. We're both writers. Thanks for your help. We've never visited Southport before and would love to get acquainted.

If you're looking for a quaint bed and breakfast in an old house these get very good reviews ... never been inside but they look nice and well kept from the street.... walk to everything, restaurants, shopping.

if you're looking for more of a hotel the Wingate Wyndham is the newest and is immaculate, stayed there several times http://www.wingatehotels.com/hotels/...hotel-overview .

It was 80 degrees and sunny most of the afternoon today.... shorts and a tee shirt all week..... supposed to be 65 plus for the next five days.... no winter at all to speak of so far this year.

The Bed & Breakfast there is very reasonable and nice. It over looks the Cape Fear. Easy walk to everything. I think you would enjoy that. We have stayed here on several occasions we now own a place in South Harbour.
