CSU is basically downtown, which is pretty safe for the most part. You shouldnt have any problems.

The Central neighborhood (just SE of downtown) can get bad and is pretty much entirely public housing. Im talking about the area around 30th & Central. That would also be the closest dangerous area around CSU, but its a good distance away, so you should be fine.

Are there figures that justify that the 30th and Central area is dangerous or was that assessment simply based on the fact that the area consists of minorities? I tried to locate some figures that single out crime rates of a city block and cannot find it anywhere. An area being mostly minority doesn't make it dangerous.

Cleveland State campus is safe, and is only getting safer with the all the new housing under construction.

That area is mostly Section 8 and projects. Not CSU campus. I wouldn't go there at night.

Really not a bad area at all. CSU is a really safe campus with alot of development going on around the area. This is an exciting time for CSU....:-)

Very safe campus, cut off from the bad area by freeway.

Of course at night, be cautious, but the campus is growing, so is downtown, Euclid was just finished. Its only getting safer.

I went as a commuter though.

Never stayed on campus as a student, but I would imagine its the same as living in the downtown of any major city. Stay on campus and in the safer areas.

CSU is really safe. Nothing to be worried about at all. I can tell you from living on campus currently that I will walk around campus at any time of night. And yes, it is common knowledge that the highway is the dividing line. The only time to go over there is during the day.
