There is a new projection that downtown's population will exceed 20,000 by 2020. Considering it was about 7,600 in 2010, that is a huge change - up 260%. Population in developed areas rarely moves by that much.

When using Realtor.com for "rent" it is hard to find all those loft and apt buildings downtown- I did find the Statler Arms. Are these just private buildings and you have to walk in or know a website? Is there another site that shows all the living possibilities downtown? If you are not near CLE, how do you find what is there for downtown living?

The renovation of Public Square is coming along nicely and will look incredible by June. Long an advocate of unifying the PS and building a hotel on the site of the county building, both of which are happening simultaneously.

However, the new PS needs to rid itself of being the bus depot and shiftless hangout place. The last rehab of the square turned into a giant urinal and street people camp. This cannot happen again.

Walking on the square last night, including the Ontario Street side of the casino, was not promising. Complete with a security guard foot chase, the atmosphere was a bit uncomfortable, especially with the shooting homicide at E 4th/Euclid last month.

Can't stand the scary panhandlers approaching diners sitting outside on E 4th. Who wants some dirty dude pawing at them while eating? These situations can turn on a dime for visitors to downtown.

Cleveland has to keep all of this development safe; its history of downtown revivals is spotty at best.
