My fiance and I are getting married in July and looking to move to the Shaker Heights (or other Cleveland areas) since he will be working at University hospital or the Clinic. We found a place on Chagrin Blvd called Colton House (it's just a little east of Warrensville Center Rd) and we can't find any reviews from current/prior tenants anywhere. We aren't completely familiar with the area but most people say Shaker Heights is a good place to live in general. I was just wondering if I could get some more feedback about the safety of that neighborhood in particular? Thanks!

I don't know much about Colton House but the area itself is fine. The intersection at Warrensville and Chagrin is a shopping plaza and rail stop so it gets its fair share of traffic but that's about it. I'm not completely sure but I think Chagrin east of Warrensville starts into Beachwood which also shares the zip code with Shaker and Beachwood as a whole is completely safe.

The apartments/condos along Van Aken around Norwood are a little more pedestrian friendly and neighborhood oriented.

The Van Aken/Chagrin/Northfield/Warrensvills interchange is real mess and some dramatic changes are expected soon (20 years in the making)

Something to consider.

Welcome to Shaker. We rented here for 2 years before buying in the community. Love it....taxes as you probably know are insane but we deal because we like the area so much.
