We're thinking of moving to Cuyahoga Falls? Is that too far to commute to downtown Cleveland? I would be driving during off-peak hours.

That would be give or take 30-40 miles (depending what part of Cleveland). I would budget 45 minutes at least even non-peak.

I know some people who commute 60-90 minutes or more into Cleveland, so it all depends what is doable for you. I currently am 15 or so miles out of Cleveland and that is about my limit of commuting tolerance. ;-)

I would say Cuyahoga Falls is too far too commute to Cleveland on a daily basis. There are many places that have nice affordable housing within 15-20 minutes of Cleveland. If there is some reason why you want to move to Cuyahoga Falls drving to Cleveland everyday isnt that bad. it would take about 30 -40 minutes sometimes more sometimes less.

Difference between Cuy Falls and other areas is that your main highway would be 77. I've seen most of the commuting problems along 71 right now, so that is in your favor (can always change... 77 could always go under construction). I personally don't think Cuy Falls is that bad of a commute (depending on where you're going, obviously). Right now, I'm commuting from Wayne Co and it isn't bad. We're moving closer next month, though.

What is considered "too much" depends on how big your time and gas budgets are. If you have the time to make the commute and the gas money available.. more power to you. The cost will be offset by housing prices the further out you are. We're moving closer because we don't have the time (he works on call... we're too far away for him to be a decent response time). We're trading off what we spend in gas for increased rent.

I personally drive 71 every day to and from work and i would take 71 over 77 any day of the week. I guess that goes back to the East vs. West but if there are no accidents on either one, i think 71 wins on/off peak hours.

but it is def. a personal preference on what is "too far". depends on what you have to look forward to aka how much house you are getting after that drive.

the route 8 & 480 interchanges are brutal (even when they're not under construction)

8 to 271 is pretty torn up right now. i used to make that drive for years. it might be better to slip through the valley and take 77 straight up.

My mom lives right by Cuyahoga Falls (North Akron) and commutes to Brecksville every work day, it's 30 mins no traffic, I think any farther than that is too far.

I lived at Steels Corners in Stow, right north of Cuyahoga Falls. I worked in Hudson and was too tired to meet buddies in Cleveland on Friday night.

On the weekends, the drive into Cleveland is kinda nice though. It feels like a long one, if only because SR 8 is the Road As Slow As Heck.
