Ann Arbor has the Univeristy of Michigan, while Detroit is the Motor city and home to Ford and General Motors. One city is bustling admist the recession, and the other has one of the highest unemployment rates in the U.S. Nevertheless, both cities are great places. Choose which Michigan city, Ann Arbor or Detroit, you would live in, if such opportunity arose. Plus, why would you pick this particular city over its peer?

College towns and and a large number of "know-it-alls" are a big turn-off for me, so Detroit definitely gets my vote.

Well, even though many don't like to admit it, Ann Arbor is a far western suburb of Detroit. It's a different experience.

I was just about to ask about this. Don't the Pistons play in Ann Arbor or is that Auburn Hills? I'm getting confused here. But I pretty much figured Ann Arbor was a suburb of Detroit myself. I would take Ann Arbor. It is a bustling and thriving metro with the proximity to Motown. Gotta love it.

Yeah the Pistons play in Auburn Hills out across the highway from the old pontiac silverdome(former stadium of the lions).

I would live in Ann Arbor. It's close enough to Detroit if I ever wanted to go to the city for any reason, such as having lunch at Greektown or go across the bridge to Canada. Detroit's airport is located toward Ann Arbor on I-90.
