As a city?

Philly is the size of Boston and DC combined as a city. On MSA it is larger than both, UA, DMA

DC is larger on GDP, (Boston not)

on CSA both are larger

There are similarities but on the city aspect Philly is no doubt larger than either

it should be, it is 3x the geographic size of Boston. And 2x Dc's. And Bostons CSA GDP is larger as well as Suffulk county ( Boston+ Chelsea) has a larger economy than the city of Philly. All in all the Northeast goes
NYC
DC
Boston/Philly

Am not disagreeing on the Economies but depending on the criteria Philly is a larger city. Boston and Chelsea. Well what about Philly and Montco or whatever.

Philly as a city on size is larger than DC or Boston (even if other areas are added to either (Cambridge, Arlinington etc. not mention Philly has bordering municipalities that are very much city as well) Also given either the Boston or DC confines Philly is also more populated

Though on Philly remember that nearly 34% of the land is uninhabited and it also has 1.2 million in the core 50 sq miles

As to the point that Philadephia had no influence on the West? Philadephia had an enormous historical influence on EVERY city, town, borough, village in this United States.

Philadlephia was the centerpiece of this country's genesis. It was the political, economic, and cultural capital of the USA as it came into its existence. Nothing you can say, do, or spindoctor can take away the importance of Philadephia.

Bay Views and Google cant compete with Philadelphias contributions on the USA.

Philadelphia

Centerpiece of American History
Political,Economic,Cultural Capital of US at its inception
Home of The Declaration of Independence
Home of the Articles of Confederation
Home of the US Constitution
US Navy + Marines started in Philadelphia
Pennsylvania + Reading Roads began travel to the West.
American Democracy began here
Religious Freedom began here
Individual Rights began here
Underground Network Main Hub
1st + 2nd bank of the United States
Lewis + Clarke expedition originated here.
Workshop of the World- Industrial Giant . Built early america and heavily contributed to manufacturing of military equipment and ships that helped win the revolution, civil war, and 2 World Wars.

IF you want to say SF is a nicer place to live than Philadlephia I can buy that. But comparing the contributions of the 2 cities and their impact on the USA is an absolute demolition.

To say Philadelphia had no influence on the west is asinine.

A bunch of puffed up self importance that is extremely irrelevant to the West.

And San Francisco is far more important to the history of the West than Philawho?phia.

I don't speak in brutish, caveman grunts such as that which you are probably accustomed to. Sorry.
