Oregon. How could anyone argue with that? In one day you can be in beautiful deserts, at a vineyard on rolling lush hills, in a rain forest, in the mountains with some of the best skiing in the world, in the city, and at the most gorgeous coast in the country. It has tremendous natural beauty and it's all so accessible. Less crowded than Washington or California too. I love it.
California the countries only sub-continent. For basically the same reasons as our lovely neighbor Oregon but on a larger scale plus the big cities and more.
California b/c of the incredible diversity. You have a European feeling city (SF), rugged alpine areas (Sierra/Nevada, Yosemite), Rainforests in the upper NW coastal area, Tuscan style wine country, giant cities and small charming towns, surf culture, Santa Barbara- heck there are even areas that look and feel like West Texas (Bakersfield)- and of course my beloved San Diego.
Some states arguably have more consistency per mile, but it is hard to compete with the vast diversity of California. Also, I hate humidity.

I think most picked their own state lol. That's why TX is up there. I bet it's mostly all Texans. But I think CA's votes probably have locals and non-locals voting for it.

I actually agree with you. When you think about it there is nothing wrong with people picking their home state (which they know best) in a thread called "pick your favorite state". Now if this was "pick the greatest state", it would be California hands down!
