Scary numbers for the Bay Area, really shows the tales of two cities.

Do you have data for Boston?

Yeah, such an egregious and suffocating cost of living in San Francisco. Nice city but not surprised people are moving out.

I'm confused. I see BEA's release for per capita personal income by county and metro area, but not "compensation" and not per job. Where is this?

Personal income, defined by BEA, includes benefits: Income that people get from wages and salaries, Social Security and other government benefits, dividends and interest, business ownership, and other sources. These statistics can offer clues to Americans' financial health and future consumer spending.

some notes on this:

The Top 3 are home to Jackson Hole, Park City, and Aspen--EDIT: Park City is actually within commuting distance of Salt Lake City

San Mateo has surpassed Marin as the nation's wealthiest suburban county per per capita income

Lots of energy related counties in this list.

Thanks for the instructions!

To understand the data I looked up "compensation" on BEA. This includes employer compensation to pension and insurance funds as well as employer payments to government social insurance. Drilling down, the first category includes "contributions consisting of employer payments (including payments-in-kind) to private pension and profit-sharing plans, publicly administered government employee retirement plans, private group health and life insurance plans, privately administered workers' compensation plans, and supplemental unemployment benefit plans, formerly called other labor income." I take that to include 401(k) plans, ESOPs, and stock option grants, though they don't clarify those things, and also have a glitch in the glossary system.

In any case, people shouldn't feel too bad about their own incomes relative to the list. For a typical white collar employee, actual wages are dramatically smaller.

This has to be mean compensation, not median. There is no way that half of all workers in the Seattle MSA are earning $118k or more. Even in Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland that would surprise me.
