I understand what he is saying, it was just said really in a weird fashion.

Although I don't think they are as spread out in areas such as westchase like he mentioned, but the I10 corridor does have a ton as he said. Crown Castle is in the Uptown area but is technically off of I10. But still these areas were annexed eons before those companies moved there. So the sentence: Today as companies are moving to the suburbs more and more...Houston numbers are higher by annexing the suburbs is putting the cart before the house
Horse.

Houston was huge 70 years ago. That I10 corridor wasn't suburbs either. The development came after the annexation and the headquarters came in after.

Crown Castle is not in Uptown. I would refer to that area as Spring Branch. It’s just north of I-10.

Houston apologist? I said just said it's third in F500 companies even if you include the MSAs. I just pointed out that the reason the city proper numbers look so good for Houston is because of that. But I also clarified that even without the city boundaries, Houston is top 3 in F500s.

To answer the "Are any of these companies based in Kingwood", yes. Insperity is in Kingwood. But Fortune lists Kingwood as an independent city for some reason.

Neither are the rest I named. I said "The I-10 corridor that stretches from Uptown HOU to Katy".

Edit: Oh, sorry I just realized it wasn't in response to me. But for the record, I heavily disagree with Crown Castle being in Spring Branch. Definitely not Uptown but also not Spring Branch.

Also, Crown Castle used to be in Uptown until they built a larger office building in 2020 so atadytic might've been talking about their former office in Uptown.

Yes, the companies went there long after Houston annexed that area. It's still a very suburban area that's what I was referencing. Houston having suburban style communities in its territory help the tally these days as companies are increasingly preferring suburban settings (whether or not that lies in the city limits).

Tysons/McLean, VA is at 7, and I believe 5 for Arlington, VA currently.

Just a suggestion: Please check all the companies in the list for each city because Dublin refers to Dublin CA AND Dublin OH----I guess Fortune was too lazy to separate the companies by city, state---just by city.

Anyhow, I added up these parts.

Bay Area CSA: 84 Fortune 1000 Cos.
Corte Madera 1
Cupertino 1
Dublin 2
Emeryville 1
Foster City 1
Fremont 3
Hercules 1
Los Gatos 1
Menlo Park 2
Milpitas 1
Mountain View 4
Oakland 1
Palo Alto 2
Pleasanton 1
Redwood City 2
San Francisco 22
San Jose 15
San Mateo 1
San Rafael 1
San Ramon 2
Santa Clara 9
Santa Rosa 1
Sunnyvale 4
Walnut Creek 1
Watsonville 1

By Local MSA
San Francisco MSA: 45
San Jose MSA: 37
Santa Cruz MSA: 1
Santa Rosa MSA: 1

Poor Oakland, we've lost so many large corporations over the past 20 years. If Kaiser Permanente were a public company it would definitely be on the list, but such is life.
