Richmond. Louisville has a good skyline, but there's something about the Richmond one I slightly prefer. Maybe it's the rapids on the James River? Or that it seems there is a slight bit more density, in Richmond?

San Antonio, or Winnipeg?

Winnipeg. Looks more dense. El Paso or Mobile?

I prefer El Paso's more even skyline, and desert mountains in the background. Mobile's one super tall tower looks a bit out of place, somewhat, considering the rest of the skyline height.

Memphis, TN or Buffalo, NY?

Memphis. Always thought it was underrated

Iowa, LA or Sundance, WY?

???

Where's the skyline in either of these places? The WY town has a very scenic backdrop but no skyline that I can find, and Iowa, LA has absolutely nothing at all.

If the tallest structure in a town is a water tower and if the trees are taller than any building in town, then sorry, there's no skyline there. And a couple of hurricanes badly damaged the town last year. Nearby Lake Charles hasn't yet been mentioned in this thread, and at least it has a clearly identifiable small skyline that's clearly visible from I-10, especially eastbound as it crosses its namesake lake. Unlike the "Where would you rather live/visit" threads, there has to be a threshold where a choice is viable, and if you run out of choices, consider a sub-skyline if its a major city. I will say downtown Sundance is nicer than the very redneck-looking Iowa.

But to make a slightly more reasonable matchup:

Lake Charles, LA or Bozeman, MT?

Exactly, if there's nothing taller than the treeline aside from a radio tower or a water tower then there's no skyline, no matter how pretty the local geography might be.

As for choosing between those two, Lake Charles all day. Having driven across that very bridge you mentioned, the view on a nice day is actually quite nice. While MT would reign supreme over LA in terms of natural scenery, the only city in that state that could even compare in my opinion would be Billings and even then it still wouldn't be better.

Tuscon, AZ or Albuquerque, NM?

This one was a LOT closer, than I thought it'd be between these 2. I didn't expect I'd go with this one, but I slightly prefer Tucson's skyline. Before I compared both, had that weird early feeling I'd like Albuquerque's more. And was surprised that wasn't the case, after doing a good bit of skyline picture comparing of these 2 cities. That said, both cities might benefit from a little more density, and having a building or 2 that looks a little more distinctive.

Cheyenne, WY, or Billings, MT?
