They most likely mean the Puerto Rican population in the US mainland (as in just DC and the 50 states, not including territories). The US mainland is the most popular destination for people leaving Puerto Rico, and has been since the early 1900s. Due to Puerto Rico having a different culture (its culture is far more similar to Dominican or even Cuban culture then mainland American culture), and because of this when they relocate to NY, Florida, or Pennsylvania, its largely seen the same as a person from DR, Jamaica or Mexico relocating to these places, as compared to a person from California or Illinois relocating there. The only difference is political, Puerto Rico is a US territory so its far easier for them to relocate to these places, but culturally they are there they're own lil group and seen as such by Americans and other ethnic groups. There more of a Caribbean Hispanic who can easily migrate to the states due to political ties to the US as territory (aka overseas colony), and less like a American with sum unique ethnic flair. Political there US citizens but culturally they're not American they're Puerto Rican (a Latin Caribbean group similar to Dominicans)

Florida is the new Mecca for Puerto Ricans. Climate and culture like home and much cheaper and nicer than the crumbling and icy northern neighborhoods.

I don't know about much cheaper than some northern cities/areas, but FL is the new hot spot.

True, Florida (especially Orlando) is the new hotspot. But that is not to say there still isnt ALOT of Puerto Ricans choosing other places including the northeast.

Traditional spots like Philly/Eastern PA, NJ, NY, Boston, CT, Buffalo/Rochester, Cleveland, & Chicago are still popular, some more than others. As well as new spots like Pittsburgh, Columbus OH, Baltimore, WashingtonDC, Richmond Va, Norfolk/Va Beach, Raleigh, Charlotte, Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Milwaukee, & Los Angeles.

Its not just Florida. Close to half of em prolly dont even like FL.

I don't get why more puerto ricans dont move to the midwest....tons of high paying jobs open. Its like Orlando or bust with most puerto ricans.

For example, Louisville has 27,000 jobs open, begging for people to move and take

True, alot of Puerto Ricans like Florida but also alot dont.

You guys act like 99% of people coming from Puerto Rico to the mainland US are going to Florida, not true. Its more like 50% more or less, the other 50% goes to the rest of the nation mainly states like Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, New York for example. And of that 50% in FL, about two thirds of that goes to Orlando, the other one third is mostly to Tampa, Miami, & Jacksonville. So only about 33% of all migrants from PR go to Orlando. So idk where you get this Orlando or bust idea.

The cities in bold do NOT have large established Puerto Rican populations nor are they new emerging destinations for Puerto Ricans as a whole. So idk why you would include them.
