I think Minny is nice but there is NO comparison. Let the truth be told...most people dont give ATL their due, but no matter who you are and what you like, there is tons to do.

And if you don't want to have a good time in town, you can have a good time in Charleston SC, Savannah GA, or Pensacola FL, all of which make for great weekend trips.

The good times you mention don't have much to do with nightlife, as you corrected someone a few posts back. It seems that Atlanta is winning this one pretty easily, but it's obviously not everyone's choice. I wonder how Atlanta fares against other major cities? Not curious enough to start a thread, though.

On City-Data it would be probably around 7 or 8. In real life though it would be lucky to break the top 20 probably.

In real life a lot of Hip Hop and R&B celebrities love Atlanta's nightlife so much that they either spend a ton of time down here or move here all together. Now I know Atlanta also has lots and lots of live rock bands as well as techno etc. but I don't know enough about that stuff to say how it stacks up to Minneapolis. It's safe to say that when it comes to the urban music scene not many cities besides NYC., L.A, Miami, and just maybe Houston can compete with Atlanta.

Right, and this is why I haven't voted yet either, because I just don't know enough about Atlanta to vote for it OR Minneapolis (how it compares to ATL). My assumption would be that Atlanta is better, but my suspicion would be that people would be giving Minneapolis more credit if they actually had also seen the nightlife there. I've brought friends there from different parts of the country and the reaction was usually shock and awe (probably because they weren't expecting much.....who would expect that from a city that doesn't get that kind of hype whatsoever?).
As for rappers and entertainers preferring ATL over anywhere else, ATL is pretty much universally accepted as the "black mecca", so I see that as being the RESULT of said migration, as opposed to the CAUSE of it. That's debatable, I'm sure, as they say: "which came first -- the chicken or the egg"?
I'm STILL waiting to hear back from somebody who has been to BOTH and can compare them (pros and cons), and try to rate them against eachother and possibly in the grand scheme of things (overall nightlife in the U.S. -- like "8 out of 10" or something)! I figure BlackOut could do that for us, but wasn't sure how much exposure he had to ATL....
Being a listener of pop and hip-hop music, Atlanta truly is the CAUSE of the Southern hip-hop scene. Artists like T.I., B.o.B., Usher, Lil John, and Ludacris all hail from the Atlanta metro. In fact, I would say that Atlanta is definitely where that kind of music began and then it spread throughout the nation.
Knowing absolutely nothing about Minneapolis, I voted Atlanta just because of all the hype that surrounds it and the fact that it started an extremely popular genre of music. Minneapolis seems to have neither, though I COULD BE WRONG. (pls don't attack me )
