I'm just curious where you all would choose. I've been looking all over the country for liberal, progressive, naturally beautiful cities. So of all these cities, which would you choose to live in?
Portland, Oregon; Ashland, Oregon; Takoma Park, MD; Savannah, Georgia; Boulder, CO; Eureka Springs, Arkansas; Santa Fe, NM or Sedona, AZ.
Santa Fe!!! Love the climate, scenery, art scene, food, all the outdoor activities, the people- especially the interesting mix of Catholic/ Native American/ Hispanic influences, and the adobe style of homes.
And love the walkable downtown square & surrounding areas.
I would live in Portland, the rest are all too small for my taste. Also, based on the time I have spent in Savannah it seems more middle of the road than progressive, it is a beautiful place though. I wouldn't want to live there because my parents live there and I would see them way too much.

The sad reality is that the cities with the attributes you seek tend to have very high costs of living.
Thanks for your opinions, everyone! Portland is the big winner so far with Santa Fe coming in second!
wsobchak - Yep, it is unfortunate that all these places have a high cost of living, but I want to live some place where I'll be happy :-)
