The big cities and urban areas in California: Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County, Marin County (Bay Area), Silicon Valley, Contra Costa County (Bay Area) probably have among the highest concentration of luxury vehicle sales. I believe Southern California is the largest market for BMW and Mercedes Benz in the world.

16% of vehicle sales in CA are considered luxury sales, the MOST of any state.
Only three states join CA in having more than 10% of its vehicle sales as luxury cars. Those are Florida (13.8%) and New York (11.4%).

I see them all the time in Orlando, especially in the upper class neighborhoods of Dr. Phillips and Windermere.

You are correct; the number one volume dealer for Mercedes Benz is in Orange County. Many California highways were built with money from the auto, tire, and oil industry;thus the sprawl to encourage driving. No where else have I seen so many people obsessed with what they drive. I enjoy realy high end autos so it's cool to see all the fancy toys out there. Prettycommon to see 150k+ cars everywhere in So. California

It's interesting that the 2 states with the highest percentage of luxury cars also have among the highest unemployment. That may say something about people's spending habits or inequality there.
