I love street view; it's one of my primary procrastination tools! However, I hate when it takes images of places in the winter. It did that to Lubbock, and everything is dead and brown.
I agree completely! Whenever they take the pictures in the winter it tends to look cold, wet and gross! Just take all the pics in the summer and everybody's happy!
Here is another gem. Nothing like having the Mexico border fence at the end of your block. Although there probably is not much difference in that town.
I was actually going to include Salton City, which is on the opposite side, but thought it didn't quite sink to the level of some of the other places. I've never seen Bombay Beach before, but that is a great addition.

Here is a great example of a place getting driven at two different times, with two completely different types of weather, which, as you say, can lend prejudice to the viewer. I present to you, Sawyer Kansas.

I think it's important to have some winter pictures on street view to show reality. If all the pictures were taken in the summer, some people might get a false idea of what the climate is like. If you're moving somewhere and checking it out on street view, the winter pictures can give you an idea of how it looks in the winter.

Best (so far): San Diego, Hollywood, SW Orlando, Oakland
Worst (so far): New Orleans, Detroit, Brooklyn/Queens
Now of course every city has beautiful and ugly, I streetviewed through some gorgeous parts of NO & BK/QNS but I wouldn't place them in the "best" category.
I haven't been on streetview in a while though. Winter pics look gross and dead, they should be taken in when it's a nice warm day imo.

Agreed, A couple of shots of why I live here. Even my historic neighborhood (last shot) doesn't look too bad. Hard to tell here what time of year the shots were taken
I don't know about finding ugly places and offending those who live there for whatever reasons but I will concur that California uniquely has some of the most beautiful and ugliest places on earth
