Not really a ranking that Cincinnati wants but at least we didn't have multiple areas like Cleveland.

Can anyone tell when this data is from? The report naming OTR the most dangerous neighborhood in the country was released last year but used data from three or four years prior. The area north of liberty but before the top of the hill still has problems, that's for sure. Curiously, crossing sycamore street to the east puts you in one of the nicer neighborhoods downtown (prospect hill).

It's also worth saying that most of us on here have said the ranking of OTR as "nation's most dangerous" last year (using outdated stats) was totally invalid. This report still probably uses totally outdated stats, but the fact that the neighborhood basically fell off the list speaks to just how fast it is changing.

Agree. I'm not sure why a real estate agent would want to post this old, invalid list unless it is to differentiate Cincinnati from Northern Kentucky. Tell us, Mike, why post this up again now?

The list refers to OTR as in zipcode "45210" but that zipcode has not existed for 10 years and any data based on 45210 would be, by definition, invalid. You can't even get mail delivered to 45210 it is so old. The USPS won't even forward anymore.

So tell us why this should be aired again?

On this one I agree. If the data is so outdated then why bring it up? It just seems like if anyone cites some web based proclamation it is taken as sacrocanct. This is just the opposite of my opinion, if on the web it is likely to be full of errors, has dubvious qualification and verification, and is probably a downright lie.

I posted this thread because it was front page web news and was being covered by the all the local news agencies all day on 10/4/10( so they must have felt it was current information). It has nothing to do with Ohio vs. Kentucky. It was not an attempt to be negative about Cincinnati as I for one am in downtown Cincinnati all the time and feel safe. I have always posted threads where Cincinnati and N. Kentucky are ranked....whether good or bad.

^ I think he's stating that it is a little disturbing considering these list are usually B.S., i.e. the zip code error from last year.

I called these list B.S. last year and I'll call B.S., now that we're showing a tremendous "improvement," ... You're not really a Realtor, are you?

Why is anyone attacking the OP? He posted a link, we are discussing it. What's the problem?

Years ago, P. T. Barnum of Barnum & Bailey Circus fame made his famous quote there is a sucker born every minute. If Barnum were alive today he would have a whole new avenue to exploit - the internet. Just put it out there on the net, wrap it in fancy looking graphics, charts, and statistics, and people will take it to be gospel. And where do these sites keep coming from? Wallet Pop - great name. Looked at the About US - large staff. Who is paying the bill? From what I can tell it is part of AOL?

If the same group put together a safest neighborhoods list, and Hype Park and Mt. Adams topped the list at 1 and 2; would you all run to discredit that list as well?

Yea, if they thought Hyde Park was in a zipcode that hasn't existed for 10 years I would.
