So what makes any man better than the next if even ONE man is capable of great evil, then it is a propensity for all mankind and we are all evil. Am I really so vain to think that God is looking down on me because I drank a bottle of wine and had me a smoke?
What on Earth difference would it make if I didn't?
Like I can make a worthwhile sacrifice to God, and what is that? Does God want me to sit in the sand pouring sand on my head in repenting? Does God want me to be in church every Sunday? What does God care if I go to church?
Having said that, it's not that some humans are good and some humans are bad, in my opinion, ALL HUMANS ARE BAD. It's hard to imagine anything we could do in order to change this at all but there is hope in the scriptures that I do cling to.

Han, I agree with all of what you've written up to the last paragraph, which is what the following comments are based on. Hope it's ok with you.
It is the carnal mind that is against the things of God. When God made creation He said it was good. He's not changed His mind on that. We are spirit, that is from God and is God, by definition, if it returns to Him, when our bodies go back to dust, what or whom 'other' can it be...? That which is material is passing away and vanity, period.
The soul (mind, will and emotions) is the intermediary between the body and the spirit. It is the soul that is purged after death, if required, but the spirit part of us is perfect, and it is that to which we must appeal daily, by the sacrifice of the carnal mind, will and emotions.
I should say, I've been listening to Gary Sigler and Mike Nevins recently, and their current teachings. They've been maligned by Christianity widely because of the controversial (new age) slant, especially with the 'one Spirit' philosophy. But, it is making a lot of sense to me, and dare I say, witnesses within. If God is drawing All, it has to be a very simple model of how He is in control - one God, one Spirit does that.
Blessings,
