RIO DE JANEIRO — A 9-year-old girl who was carrying twins, allegedly after being raped by her stepfather, underwent an abortion Wednesday despite complaints from Brazil's Roman Catholic church.

Police said the stepfather has been jailed since last week.

Well it is still murder even thyough she is a 9 year old child. Between the rape and the abortion she is going to have severe emotional problems growing up. I feel for the child having to endure such trauma at such a young age. The step-fether deserves the death penalty.

The Church will always defend life.
However, it will not abandon this poor young child.

You would be surprised how durable the uterus really is. If she was truly underdeveloped then she most likely would not have gotten pregnant.

A 9 year old carrying twins?! Yeah her uterus could have ruptured! I think it would be more traumatic to have them than to have an abortion! Could you imagine the physical trauma of a 9 year old carrying not 1 but 2 babies?! Full grown women have trouble doing this! Think of how small a 9 year old is!

So many people make me sick. This girl's stepfather for doing what he did. The RC church for decrying it. The people here saying it was the wrong thing to do...

Not as severe as if she had been forced to give birth .....
